[When James Rea was born VA was a big state…]

[I don’t trust the traditional information that James Rea was born in Augusta county in 1788 because that information also coincides with that of General James Rea, famous Indian fighter of KY]

[James Rea bought property in Hopkins county, KY in 1818 from Melza Brown — somehow that name was attached to his wife as Elizabeth Melza Brown — her name was Cisney (Sisney) as reported by KY death abstracts.. and she was named in the will of Stephen Cisney (Sisney);]

[James sold property in Robertson county, TN in 1818]

[Our James came to KY in 1818 from TN about the time that the Cherokees began the Trail of Tears.]

[On the 1850 census Emily Williams is living with the John Clark family, age 40, wife Lucy, age 43, born NC; children: Newton J., xxx, John S., William D., Doct Franklin, Fines, Margaret, Joshua G. On the 1870 census she is back living with them again. One can infer that Emily and Lucy are sisters because they were both born in NC but I wonder what the connection was for the Rea family and the Clark family that match making occurred between them.]
