WHY WE DO IT
Our goal is to collect and publish/display information on historic Columbia county. We hope people will enjoy our site and send us stuff to add to it or develop their own similar site.
EXAMPLE
Ross Degerstedt noticed the opening article on the "Beaver" and e-mailed us. Capt Vic Degerstedt was his great uncle. Ross put us in contact with his uncle, Lynn Degerstedt, nephew of Capt. Degerstedt. We had a very enjoyable visit while he related additional information about Capt. Degerstedt.
In the meantime we heard from W. Kunz who has the finest collection of Columbia river information we have ever seen. He owns an album of pictures taken by a former purser on the "Beaver." He was kind enough to let us copy some of those pictures to use on our homepage. While talking to him we discovered some common ground. One of his ancestors married into my wife's family (or vice-versa) so we were "shirt-tail" cousins.
