THE BEAVER LUMBER COMPANY
Monday, June 25, 1906: The Beaver Lumber Company, capital $60,000,
was incorporated recently in Portland. This company purchased
several weeks ago from J. F. Timoney -- for the sum of $6,000 --
thirty acres of water frontage on the Columbia about four miles
above Rainier. The land is traversed by the A & C railroad. The
company has commenced the erection of a sawmill with a capacity of
100,000 feet daily. The mill will be equipped with a nine foot
Prescott bandsaw and other machinery.
COMMENTS FROM ST. HELENS
A mill near Goble: The purchasers are understood to be the same
parties that attempted to secure the Muckle millsite in this city
and it is said they will work upon the output of the Chapman Lumber
Co., [Scappoose] so we will at least have the pleasure of seeing
the rafts pass by on the way to the mill.
